I came upon a method from the Southwest called pulled wool pads that is the perfect method for beginners or old hands when it comes to the fiber arts. Using a latch hook rug canvas and latch hook, a continuous piece of wool roving is pulled up through the canvas in loops. This method for building saddles pads is not only simple, and approachable, but yields exceptionally high quality saddle pads that many cowboys swear by.
